The Archaeological Research Unit of the University of Cyprus invites you to an online ZOOM public lecture on Monday, March 13th 2023, at 19:30 (EET) by Dr Kostas Sbonias, Associate Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology, Department of History, Ionian University, Corfu, Greece.
Recent research on Therasia island, in the framework of the Therasia survey project, and the ongoing excavation of the Early and Middle Bronze Age hill-top settlement site at Koimisis, at the southern tip of present Therasia, have contributed to the wider understanding of long-term settlement history at Therasia throughout the Bronze Age. The excavation at Koimisis provides new information on the architecture and spatial organisation during the Early and Middle Bronze Age. The biography of habitation at Koimisis and the subsequent transformations in the Middle and Late Cycladic period at Therasia, in line with the growth of the maritime town of Akrotiri, reflect wider trends of Bronze Age Thera, which will be discussed in this presentation.
All Monday lectures are free and open to the public, but registration is required for access to the Zoom lecture.
