Short Description:

The course focuses on the historical emergence, nature and impact of the internet. The pervasiveness of this artifact in every aspect of contemporary individual and social life makes such an examination important. During the semester, the sequence of historical events that led to the formation of cyberspace, the diverse dimensions of the digital world, and its social, political, ethical, and ontological components will be explored. The ultimate goal of the course is to understand both the historical emergence of cyberspace and the reshaping of the political, ethical, philosophical, economic and social foundations of modern societies that it has brought about.
