The successive extensions of the exhibition "...about the Desired University - The Ionian Academy and Lord Guilford" reflect the great success of this initiative. Organized by the Ionian University and the Corfu Reading Society, the exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Ionian Academy (1824-2024) and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Ionian University (1984-2024). It highlights the role of the Ionian Academy and its founder, Lord Guilford, in supporting higher education in Greece and Europe.
This book provides a significant contribution to our understanding of the Ottoman Empire’s economic history, particularly through its exploration of local entrepreneurship, which brings new perspectives to the economic dynamics of the region.

The Ionian University excavation at the prehistoric settlement of Koimisi in Therasia has brought to light an important find, which sheds light on the first steps in the creation of writing in the prehistoric Aegean. The find was published in open access by Cambridge University Press, in an article by K. Sbonia, I. Tzachilis and G. Kordatzakis.

Beginning in the academic year 2025–2026, the Department of History within the Faculty of Humanities at the Ionian University will be renamed to the "Department of History and Digital Humanities". The department’s curriculum will be expanded to include a new digital dimension, aimed at addressing contemporary academic needs and strengthening the digital skills of its graduates, without altering the Department’s core academic discipline.

The Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) Evaluation and Accreditation Council has accredited the new Postgraduate Study Programme of Adriatic Studies-The Adriatic: Territoriality, Regionality, Mobility (14th-18th centuries of the Department of History of the Ionian University as fully compliant to the Standards for Quality Accreditation of new Postgraduate Programmes of the HAHE and to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) for study level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Framework.
Ionian University participates for the fourth consecutive year in International Fair of Thessaloniki, which will take place from Saturday 7 to Sunday 15 September 2024 (TIF - Helexpo, Egnatia 154, Thessaloniki).
