The course is based on the presentation of the following main aspects of inquires on issues of historical demography for the period from Antiquity to the 19th century.


Objectives - Learning Outcomes:

The course aims at the theoretical approach and analysis of the main aspects of inquires on issues of historical demography for the period from Antiquity to the 19th century.

Introduction to Historical Demography, Object, Methods and Historical Approach
Developing practical skills on the problems of Historical Demography through analysis of historical texts

Week #2:
The Historical Demography of the Premodern Period

Historic Demography during the modern period

The main demographic parameters from 1650 to 1850, the demographic explosion of the 18th century

The Birth-rate and the Fertility during the Modern Period
