The Ecomuseum of Petriti and South Corfu takes shape through the cultural itineraries designed as part of the 'INTEREG VA' Greece-Italy 2014-2020 'FISH & CHIPS Project by the Department of History of the Ionian University (headed by K. Sbonias and A. Kapetanios). The five Cultural Routes network proposed by the Ecomuseum brings visitors in touch with the fishing communities and historic villages of the South Corfu inland, as well as the sensitive coastal ecosystems and the Corfiot landscape. Informative signs at three points of visit, in the fishing village of Petriti, in the salt flats of Lefkimmi and in the lagoon of Korissia-Agios Mattheos, highlight the rich coastal cultural heritage of Southern Corfu, and indicate routes on which the visitor will meet the life and stories of the place he is coming to get acquainted with.
Partners of the project from the Greek side are the Ionian University, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu and the Fishing Association of Petriti. The project is coordinated by the University of Foggia, Italy.
