The Laboratory of History Documentation and Mediterranean World Research was established in 2015 as one of the History Department’ s Laboratories. Since 2021 it is directed by the Assistant Professor Dionysis Tzakis.
The Laboratory is housed in a of the rooms of the Departmental Building and it is used for the educational and research purposes of both the students of the History Department’s graduate studies and the postgraduate program “History and Documentation”. The Laboratory keeps furniture, sufficient electronic equipment (PCs, printers, photocopier, scanner, etc) and a library specialized on issues that fall within the scope of its scientific area. The Laboratory also disposes a number of archive collections (among them the “Vasilis Spyridonakis Collection”), which are in the process of digitalization thanks to the contribution of graduate and postgraduate students. The Laboratory provides students with room, library and facilities to follow their educational projects and to further develop their research interests in the fields of social, economic and cultural history of the Mediterranean World.
