Mrs Stiastna has her First degree from the Department of Roman Languages of the Charles University in Prague and the title "Philosophiae Doctoris" from the same University and her PhD. degree in History from the Department of History of the Ionian University. She  specialized in Interpretation at the School of Interpretation and Translation (E.S.I.T.) in Paris. 

She taught French as a Foreign Language at the French Institute (Institut Francais) of Thessaloniki and Mainz (Germany), at the Geitonas School in Athens, at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation & Interpretation (Ionian University) and at the Department of Greek Philology (Democritus University of Thrace).

Since 2003, she is Member of Special Research & Teaching Personnel for teaching French for Historians (French for Specific Purposes) at the Department of History of the Ionian University. She published, among others, the textbook Le Français à travers l'histoire de France (University Studio Press, Thessaloniki, 2001), her thesis under the title  "La Grece moderne dans les Guides-Joanne et les Guides Bleus (1861-1959) (L'Harmattan, Paris, 2015) and number of articles on teaching French as Foreign Language and the difficulty of understanding texts in foreign languages because of lack of knowledge of social and cultural phenomena, articles about Intercomprehension and several others about the image of Greece in travel literature during the 19th and 20th century. She took part in number of conferences in Greece and abroad.
