Born in Athens , 1965. First degree, Athens Univ. , 1988. D.Phil., Heidelberg Univ. Postdoctoral studies, Cambridge and Durham Univs. Contracted to lecture at Univs. of Crete , Thrace and the Open Univ. , Greece .

Professor, Dept. of History, Ionian Univ. Director of the Post-Graduate Programme of the Dpt. of History 'History and Documentation'.

He is involved in numerous projects in the Cyclades, Crete, the Ionian Islands, and mainland Greece, focusing on landscape history and archaeology in a diachronic and interdisciplinary perspective (Ancient Tanagra Project, Paliki Cefalonia survey project, Trypiti survey project in Crete, Vrysinas Survey project at Rethymnon Crete, Therasia Island survey project). He co-directs the 'Prehistoric Therasia Island Project' and is currently excavating at the Early and Middle Bronze Age settlement site of Koimisis at Therasia, Cyclades.

Research interests include Aegean prehistory, landscape archaeology, public archaeology, archaeological theory, and the application of GIS in the analysis of Mediterranean landscapes. He is currently taking part in two projects on cultural heritage and sustainable planning, involving local communities, at Therasia Island and at the Ecomuseum of Southern Corfu in the FISH & C.H.I.P.S. - Cultural Heritage, Identity and Participated Societies Project (Interreg V/A Greece-Italy  2014-2020).

Author of numerous publications, some book titles being Frükretische Siegel: Ansätze für eine Interpretation der sozial-politischen Entwicklung auf Kreta während der Frühbronzezeit, 1995, Reconstructing Past Population Trends in the Mediterranean , 2000, (ed . in collaboration with J.Bintliff), The New Ways of History, 2010, (ed. in collaboration with G. Harlaftis, N. Karapidakis, V. Vaiopoulos), Corfu’s Coastal Environments, Cultural Heritage and Local Communities, 2020, (ed. in collaboration with A. Kapetanios), Therasia III. Archaeological Research and Landscape History of an Island Community (ed. in collaboration with I. Tzachili).
