The ΛΕΥΚΙΟΣ Project is also a dynamic field school.

From June 15 to July 15, 2025, we hosted our first field school, offering students from the Ionian University and partner institutions the opportunity to experience hands-on interdisciplinary research.

Participants from Greece (Ionian University, NTUA) the USA (Montana University), Canada (Windsor University), Belgium (Gent University) engaged with all three components of the project — archaeological fieldwork, historical archival research, and ethnographic investigation — gaining a holistic understanding of the Laurion historical landscape.

Their active involvement in survey, lab work, digital documentation and emerging with the landscape, not only strengthened research skills but also fostered collaboration and a deeper appreciation of cultural heritage as a living process.

The fieldwork season (the exact period is determined every year – 2025:15 June to 15 July) entails archaeological, ethnographic and historical archives research, is based in the Laurion town
